The Power of Local vs. Global
The setting of Kauai and the emphasis on Hawaiian culture ("Aloha," "Ohana," local traditions) serve as a focal point for exploring global anxieties. Kauai becomes a microcosm where the fate of the world is debated and ultimately altered by local actions and values. The "Peace, Love, and Aloha festival" represents a local attempt to counter global fear.
